Margaret Dixon McCright - SAVANNAH - Margaret Dixon McCright, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 3, thereby pulling a fast one on her lung cancer by denying it the power to make her suffer. Born and raised in Blackshear, GA by John Preston Dixon and Aldridge Gammon Dixon (who precede her in death), Margaret became a nurse, then traveled the world with her handsome Air Force husband, James Star McCright (who also precedes her in death). Her sister, Frances Owen, was also taken by cancer, so Margaret's taunting of death comes as no surprise. Despite the reaper's earnest attempt to flip a Volkswagen and claim her when she was younger, Margaret let him off with a stern warning and a shard of her collar bone. Margaret moved to Savannah, GA in 1986, where she narrowly escaped being committed on several occasions. She worked at Planned Parenthood, was an active member of NOW (National Organization for Women), and later managed several apartment complexes. She leaves behind many friends at her latest job with Medical Infusion Technologies. Gregarious and possessing the uncanny ability to talk and cajole her way out of almost every bad situation, Margaret leaves this world having never been issued a speeding ticket...!? Margaret is survived by her daughter, Merritt McCright Quarles of Richmond Hill, GA, and her son, Phillip McCright of Rincon, GA, who may be considered responsible for her grey hair and elevated auto insurance premiums; she is also survived by her precious grandchildren, Kyle and Megan Quarles, who are responsible for nothing but giving Margaret joy. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 11 at 11am at Richmond Hill United Methodist Church in Richmond Hill, GA, followed by Visitation with the family at 12noon at the church. Margaret wanted everyone to share their experiences and stories about her, so come prepared! That same evening from 6pm-8pm, we'll move the action to Waycross, GA with Visitation at Miles-Odum Funeral Home. Saturday, May 12 at 10am, a graveside service will be held at the Blackshear City Cemetery in Blackshear, GA. After the service, all friends and family are invited to gather for lunch (place to be decided) to continue celebrating Margaret's questionable mind, humor, irreverence, and LIFE!! In lieu of flowers, Margaret requested contributions be made to either the
