Monique Marie Therese DeKnop-DeBry - RICHMOND HILL - Monique Marie Therese DeKnop-DeBry, age 80, died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Hospice House of Savannah after a short illness. Mrs. DeBry was born in Dilbeek, Belgium. She was an elementary school teacher in Belgium before marrying Jean DeBry and relocating to Kigali, Rwanda in Africa in 1967 where she assisted with the family aviation business. In 1980 she immigrated to the U.S. to Punta Gorda, Florida with her family. She was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 2010. In January 2012 she moved to Richmond Hill, Georgia to be close to her son and his family. She was active in several tennis leagues and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda as well as St. Anne's Catholic Church in Richmond Hill. She was an extensive world traveler, avid antiques collector, excellent seamstress, and gardener. A loving mother and grandmother, she dedicated many hours of love and time to her grandchildren. Mrs. DeBry is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Jean Marie DeBry; her parents Eugene DeKnop and Juliette Cortvrindt; and two brothers Andre DeKnop and Georges DeKnop. She is survived by her son Benoit Andre DeBry; daughter-in-law Beth Ann (Betsy) DeBry; granddaughters, Danielle DeBry, Michelle DeBry, Isabelle DeBry; grandsons, Marcus DeBry, Lucas DeBry. She has two stepchildren in Belgium, Luc DeBry and Christine DeBry, as well as five step-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children in Europe. The family would like to thank the staff of Magnolia Manor in Richmond Hill and Hospice House of Savannah for their loving care of Mrs. DeBry during her time in Georgia. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 22nd followed by the Rosary at 7 pm in the Cox Chapel at Richmond Hill Funeral Home, 8901 Ford Avenue, Richmond Hill, GA, 31324. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23rd at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Richmond Hill, GA with Rev. Joseph Smith presiding. Light reception immediately following in Holy Family Hall. Committal: 2 p.m. at Catholic Cemetery, 1720 Wheaton Street, Savannah, GA, 31401, Gartland Section E. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to the Carmelite Mission, Our Lady of Confidence Monastery, 11 West Back Street, Savannah, GA 31406 or the Pregnancy Care Center of Richmond Hill, P.O.
