Mr. Roland Nash - SAVANNAH - Mr. Roland Nash died Tuesday February 26, at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Roland was born In Collins ,Georgia to the late Ethel Jackson-Nash and Willie Nash Sr. Also preceding him in death were four brothers and two sisters. Early in life his Christian education began at New Bethaven Primitive Baptist Church in Collins, Georgia. He later became a founding member and deacon of First St. John Primitive Baptist Church in Thunderbolt, Georgia. There, he worked faithfully in many capacities as a member of the New Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Association as well as the National Primitive Baptist Association. His early education was received in the public schools of Tattnall County. He later earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degree from Savannah State College (University). Roland's teaching /coaching career began in Millen , Georgia and continued in the Savannah-Chatham County School System. He retired from Groves High School after thirty years of service. Roland has lead an active life with involvement in sports, his favorite pastime. He played high school and college sports, coached high school football and basketball as well as little league football for Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club. He played with the Savannah Bears & Jubs. Being a member of the Georgia Officials Association allowed him the opportunity to continue involvement in sports. He was united in Holy matrimony in 1967 to Constance Heath, and to this union three children were born. Roland was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory forever, a loving and devoted wife, Constance Nash; two daughters, Katrina Nash-Jean of Hollywood, FL, Candice Hooker (Derrick) of Jacksonville, FL; one son Roland Brian Nash of Tuskegee, AL.; three granddaughters, Cierra Jean, Gabrielle Hooker and Nadia Hooker; one brother Gene Nash (Virginia) of Vidalia, Ga.; a loving sister/niece, Nellie Wallace of Collins, Ga.; a special cousin, Mattle Everett, matriarch of the family. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Visitation:6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel.
