Joseph Vincent McAlister, Sr. - SAVANNAH - Joseph Vincent McAlister, Sr., 80, of Savannah passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin H. and Margaret Otto McAlister. Joe was born and raised in Savannah and attended local schools. He was a plumber by trade and was best known as Joe the Plumber. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp. He was a member of the Commercial High School Cobra Club and was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church. He is survived by the love of his life and companion, Peggy McAlister; two sons, Vince McAlister and Gregory A. McAlister (Wendy); one daughter, Julia M. Hogan (Steve); ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Funeral Service: 11:00a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel with Pastor Gregory A. McAlister Officiating with burial to follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
