Margaret Peggy J. Handiboe - SAVANNAH - Margaret Peggy J. Handiboe, 62, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Hospice Savannah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aloysius J. and Mary O'Hayer Handiboe; a brother, Aloysius J. Handiboe III and a sister, Maria Wance. Peggy was born Rock Hill, SC and has lived in Savannah all of her life. She attended St. James Catholic School and was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy. For several years Peggy worked at Transfreight Shipping Lines before becoming a paramedic and a caregiver. Peggy's grandfather, Mr. Aloysius Handiboe Sr. was the author of the famous Savannah song, It's St. Patrick's Day in Savannah. Peggy was a fun loving, vivacious person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by a son Thomas (Trey) Mahany, of Savannah, GA, and a daughter, Nora Stockton of Jacksonville, FL, four grandsons James (Jimmy), Timothy (Timmy), Jared, and Logan, several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 12:00p.m., with Fr. Patrick O' Brian Officiating. The Family will receive visitors one hour prior the service. Burial will be private. Memorial Contribution in lieu of flower may be made in Peggy's name to Hospice Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Dr., Savannah, GA. 31406.
