Mr. Carl T. Horton, Jr. - SWAINSBORO - Mr. Carl T. Horton, Jr., 64, of Swansboro died Saturday night, May 10, 2014 at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah following a brief illness. Mr. Horton was born in Savannah to the late Carl Troutman Horton, Sr. and Ruth Pye Horton. Mr. Horton joined the United States Naval Reserve at the age of 18. Mr. Horton lived in Port Wentworth GA for 37 years before moving to Swainsboro. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 256 for 47 years and active Trustee and Secretary. Mr. Horton was a member of Savannah Area Dart Association for many years and his favorite past time was fishing, playing darts and watching NASCAR races. Survivors include his sons, Chip (Stephanie) Horton of Swainsboro, Jason (Stephanie) Horton of Clyde, NC; sisters, Arnease Moore and Nancy Horton both of Rincon; grandchildren, Kyle Horton, Stephanie Horton, Hunter Horton, Carl T. Horton, IV, Carley Horton, Lauren Horton, Jacob Horton and Lila Horton; 4 great grandchildren and other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, May 14, 2014 with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Interment will be in the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Swainsboro. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, May 13, 2014 at Chapman Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Gary Brown, Ellis Hooks, Grady Coleman, Randy Swailes, Gerald Riner, Stevie Riner, W.C. Swailes and Marc Curry. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Local 256 Union Members.
