Mrs. Lila Lee Newton - BROOKLET - Mrs. Lila Lee Newton, age 82, died Tuesday July 1, 2014, at her residence. The native of Bulloch County lived in moved to Savannah as a child and graduated from Commercial High School. She retired from Georgia Southern University after 15 years. Lila loved bowling and while living in Savannah she joined the Savannah Women's Bowling League in 1965. Surviving are her husband of 63 years George Newton of Brooklet; two daughters and a son-in-law Lynn and Larry Hall of Rincon, GA and Karen Tilton of Brooklet; a son Michael Newton of Brooklet; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law Ed Lee of Rincon, GA, Wayman Lee of Pt. Wentworth, GA and Wendell Lee of MS and a sister Barbara Ann Lee Hooks of Savannah, GA. Visitation will Thursday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. Funeral services will be Friday July 4, 2014 at 11:00am at the Brooklet Primitive Baptist Church. Entombment will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
