Mr. John Brinson Franklin - SAVANNAH - Mr. John Brinson Franklin, 93, passed away following a brief illness on July 24, 2014, at Hospice Savannah. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Franklin retired from Certain Teed Corporation with 39 years of service and also managed several Credit Union Corporations in Savannah and was instrumental in crediting the Credit Union option for factory employees after World War II. Mr. Franklin was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Savannah, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Christine Forehand Franklin. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Roan Franklin and Barbara J. Franklin; a daughter, Wanda Franklin; a granddaughter, Tami Christine Franklin and a grandson and his wife, William Hugh Brown III and Jaime all of Savannah, Georgia. Visitation will be Tuesday July 29, 2014 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home, 502 Miller, St. Statesboro, Ga. 30458. Funeral services will be at 11:00am in the chapel with Rev. Jason Gambol officiating. Interment will follow in the Lake Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Candler County. Friends may sign the online register book at www.joineranderson.com.
