Bruce Capra Obituary

Bruce Alan Capra - NEW CANAAN, CT - Bruce Alan Capra, 64, of New Canaan, Connecticut passed on peacefully on March 5, 2009 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York. Born November 9, 1944 in Denver, CO, he was the son of Annabelle Webster Capra of Denver and the late Michael Capra. Bruce, a retired insurance executive, had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed collecting antiques and restoring homes, which included an Edward Durell Stone home in New Canaan, and an 1800's home located in the Savannah, Georgia National Historic Landmark District. While a resident of Savannah, Bruce was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, the Oglethorpe Club, and served as an Executive Member of the Board of Trustees for the Historic Savannah Foundation. He had a passion for traveling the world and living life to the fullest. His greatest accomplishment was his family. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father and a devoted grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jacqueline Capra; two daughters, Kristen Eveland of New Caanan, CT and Adrienne Murphy of Dallas, TX; five grandsons, Erik Eveland, Alex Eveland, Tyler Eveland, Benjamin Murphy and Nate Murphy; three brothers, Creighton Capra of Saugus, CA, Clark Capra of Edmonds, WA and Brian Capra of Denver, CO. The service and interment will be private. Donations in Bruce Capra's memory may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 300 Research Parkway, Suite 310, Meriden, CT 06450.
