Mrs. Amelia (Camille) Washington Burgess - SAVANNAH - Mrs. Amelia (Camille) Washington Burgess, a long-time, resident of the Tatumville community in Savannah, Georgia, slipped peacefully into eternal test on April 2nd at the home of her cousin, Mrs. Barbara Washington- Hartung, of Decatur, GA. Amelia was born in Allendale, SC, in 1912 as the only child of Mamie Washington, and moved to Savannah at an early age where she met and married her beloved husband Robert Burgess who preceded her in death on December 31, 1992. Even though they had no children, she devoted much of her time as a loving caregiver to many family members. The recent birth of her namesake, Olivia Camille (Amelia) Boissymaty, and the loving attention of her younger cousins brought her much happiness. Amelia devoted her life to serving God by caring for others and being a devoted member of Tremont Temple Baptist Church. She is survived by a host of cousins including, Barbara Washington-Hartung, Gussie Washington Jenkins, Eva Washington, Melvin Washington, Joe Louis Washington, and Margaret Washington. Viewing of the body will begin 10 a.m., at Tremont Temple Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Tremont Temple Baptist Church. Interment: Memorial Gardens.
