Mrs. Carolyn Brinson - SAVANNAH - Mrs. Carolyn Brinson entered into eternal rest on April 16, 2010 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. She was born to the late Marie and Warren Brinson, Sr. Carolyn attended the Savannah Chatham County Schools and graduated for Alfred E. Beach High School then relocated to Harford, CT where she for worked for G. Fox. She returned to Savannah several years later and earned her bachelor's degree in Sociology from Savannah State University whole working at Memorial Hospital. Carolyn would eventually go on to receive her certification as Certified Addiction Counselor II. Through out her career she dedicated herself to the service of those who were in need. She began on a mission of service working for Cerebral Palsy in Philadelphia, PA. In Savannah, she worked for the public schools system, Parent and Child, Tidelands MH/MR/SA Center, and Georgia Therapy Associates. In later years she founded her own business; Genesis Treatment Alternatives (DUI). Carolyn was blessed to be spiritually educated and baptized at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church; her heart belonged to the Lord and Mt. Zion. She served as Director of Programs for the Sunday school and was a member of the Trustee Board, Senior Choir, and Junior League. She leaves to cherish her memory a committed sister, Virginia C. James of Savannah; a devoted brother, Earl Nelson of Philadelphia, PA; sister-in-law, Jeanette Carter of Philadelphia, PA; nieces, Vicky Sutton-Jackson of Savannah, Paula Brinson of Macon, Yvonne Baker of Savannah; nephews, Daryl Nelson (Palak) of Philadelphia, PA, Leonard E. Nelson of Pensacola, FL, Terrance Brinson of Warner Robbins; nephew, Aquito (Tracy) Young, Philadelphia, PA; aunts, Geraldine West, Helen Gatewood both of Connecticut; grandaunt, Mamie Williams of Savannah; devoted cousins, Bobby (Eloise) Mathis of Savannah, Shirley Hendrix of Bloomfield, CT, Tresa Brown of Savannah; grandnephews, A. Jonathan Jackson of Savannah, Nicholas Brinson of Macon, a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 23, 2010 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1008 Martin Luther King, Jr., Blvd., Rev. Michael Stamps, Pastor, reposing at the church at 11:00 a.m., Friday until hour of service. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery.
