Elder Hubert Hendrix - CLAXTON - Elder Hubert Hendrix, 93, passed away October 20th at Camellia Nursing Home. He was a native and lifelong resident of Evans County. He was ordained as a minister in 1954 and was a member of Emmaus Primitive Baptist Church. He farmed and was owner and operator of Hendrix Bargain Corner for 20 years. Mr. Hendrix was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma DeLoach Hendrix. Survivors: two sons Lamar (Melba) Hendrix of Claxton and Edward (Ona) Hendrix of Savannah; three brothers, Delmas Hendrix and Sammy Hendrix of Claxton and James A. Hendrix, Jr. of Shellman Bluff; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Friday, October 21, 2011; 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Funeral: Saturday, October 22, 2011; 11:00 a.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel.
