Delores Covington Obituary

Delores Ann Covington - SAVANNAH - Delores Ann (Dee Dee) Covington died peacefully in her home in Savannah, Georgia on April 12, 2012. She is survived by her sisters Jeane Robertson and Sondra Love, her niece Karan Jensen and nephew Mark Jensen. She was surrounded by friends, family and the comforting hands of Hospice Savannah. God could not be everywhere, thus He created Dee Dee. She was her family's best friend and advocate every moment of every day. She gave of herself generously and shared her life with all by giving comfort, love, support and recognizing the true beauty in everyone and everything she touched. Most special and amazing is how humble and unaware she was of her magnificent gifts of kindness and love. Dee Dee will be greeted by her lovely mother and father, Mamie Harrison Covington and Clifford Debow Covington along with many other loved ones...what a sight to behold! Dee Dee, a native of Bowling Green, KY, was a common thread in the Savannah community for over 35 years and made the city a better place. Whether, selling real estate with Coldwell Banker Platinum Partners (along with top performing assistants: her four-legged friends Erica, Vannah, Audrey and Gordan) or being Eastern Airline's Savannah Airport Manager, Dee Dee's profound impact will be forever cherished. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Hospice Savannah, PO Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416, or online at www.hospicesavannah.org Arrangements for DeeDee's Celebration of Life will be announced shortly. I was so very sorry to hear of Dee Dee's passing. We lost touch after Atlanta and certainly wish we hadn't. Dee Dee was a good friend when I was in school in Bowling Green at WKU. Her wonderful, loving, fun personality was ever present and I know will be missed by close friends and family. Truly, truly sorry.

Dee Dee was a patient of ours. She was a kind and funny person, a shining light in a long schedule of many to see that day. Hate to have lost one of our favorite patients. Dr. Elizabeth Miller and the team at Ga. Eye Institute

Dee Dee was one of the most special and
colorful characters I have ever known.
Her joy was infectious. Her love, energy, helping hands and problem solving always went above and beyond.
Her stories were unforgettable. Savannah will not be the same place without her.
Dee Dee will always have a special place in my heart.
To think of her makes me smile.
My sympathies to her loving family.
She will be missed by so many.

To the entire Covington family:
To say Dee Dee was a special person is a vast understatement. I was blessed to have known her for the past twenty (20) years and I never saw her without a smile on her face. I will always remember her with a phone in her hand and a pager on her waist! She was without a doubt one of the most astute businesswomen I have ever met.

When my daughter became a real estate agent, her role model was Dee Dee, and she could not have chosen a better one.

God has indeed gained an angel for his heavenly choir....rest in peace dear Dee Dee.

May God give the family peace and wrap His grace around each of you.
