Ray DeLoach - TYBEE ISLAND /CLAXTON - H. Ray DeLoach, age 83, passed away October 9, 2012, at the Hospice House of Savannah. Ray graduated from Claxton High School, class of 1945. He attended Georgia Southern and the University of Georgia. He was in the first class of Interior Design at the University of Georgia. After college he entered the United States Army and served in the first Guided Missile group. Ray was past member of Savannah Jaycees, the International Society of Interior Designers, Chapter Member and past treasurer of the Hugenot Society of Georgia, Tybee Island Art Association, Tybee Island Historical Society and the American Legion Post 154. He was actively involved and formerly served on the board of the Savannah Beach Racket Club Phase 3 Condo Association. He was of Methodist faith. Ray was an Interior Designer for Klugs for 20 years and later was a partner in Chatham House Inc. before joining in DeLoach Antiques in Savannah, Georgia and Charlottesville, Virginia. He was also a partner with his wife and daughter in the Inn at Court Square in Charlottesville, Virginia. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Cannie Collins DeLoach. Survivors: his childhood sweetheart and wife of 54 years, Carleen Ellis DeLoach; son, Michael Ray DeLoach of New York City, New York; daughter, Candace Eileen DeLoach of Charlottesville, Virginia; and granddaughter, Collin Ellis DeLoach of New York City, New York. Visitation: Saturday, October 13, from 1pm until 3pm, with a short service to follow at 3pm, at Fox and Weeks Island Chapel. An additional visitation will be in Claxton, Georgia, Sunday, October 14, from 1pm until 2:30pm, at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home. Funeral: Grave side, October 14, 3pm, at Brewton Cemetery in Hagan, Georgia. Remembrances: Hospice House of Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, GA., 31406.
