Mr. Larry D. Oltjenbruns - SMYRNA - Funeral services for Larry D. Oltjenbruns 73, of Smyrna, Ga. will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Carmichael Funeral Home Chapel in Smyrna with the Rev. Tom Grady officiating. Interment will be in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga. Oltjenbruns was born on August 19, 1939 as one of two children to Harry and Edythe Oltjenbruns and passed away unexpectedly on February 16, 2013. He was a member of the Mt. Paran Church of God Central. Oltjenbruns was a retired Major in the U.S. Army and served as a veteran aviator during the Vietnam Conflict. He received a number of medals during his service, including: National Defense Service Medal, Army Aviation Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal (w/60Dev), Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1st OLC and 2nd OLC) and an Air Medal (2-28th Award and 29-39th Award.) Larry D. Oltjenbruns is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gay Oltjenbruns of Smyrna, Ga.; a son, Mark Oltjenbruns of Woodstock; three daughters: Stacey (Oltjenbruns) Jochum of Woodstock, Terri O'Neil of Savannah and Tammy Bourek of Pender; his mother, Edythe White of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Darold Oltjenbruns of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
