Mr. John F. Williford DUNN, NC - Mr. John F. Williford, 74, of Dunn passed away Sunday evening at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. He was born October 9, 1938 to the late Isaac and Bonnie Stewart Williford. He is predeceased by brother in law, Bobby Wood. Mr. Williford was a Quality Control Inspector with Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, Georgia. He served in the US Army for 24 years. He was awarded the Purple Heart along with many other service medals. He served as Commander of the American Legion Post 135 in Savannah Georgia for 10 years. Mr. Williford was a lifetime member of the VFW, the 40 & 8, the Vietnam Veterans of America and Past President of the Parish Council of Hunter Army Air Field in Savannah, Georgia. He was also a member of Westfield Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Brenda L. Williford, sons; Tommy Lee and wife Christina, Michael Williford and wife Nancy, all of Dunn, daughter; Wanda Philligin and husband John of Fayetteville, sister Barbara Wood of Lexington, NC, two nieces; Beverly and Bonnie, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Cottingham officiating. Burial will follow in the Coats City Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Westfield Baptist Church, 700 North Ashe Avenue, Dunn, North Carolina 28334.
