Philip Wight Obituary

Philip (Phil ) Gowran Wight - SAVANNAH - Philip Gowran Wight passed away Wednesday, January 22nd at the age of 68 Phil was born July 21, 1945 in Richmond, VA. He was preceded by his parents Martha and Arthur Wight and survived by his sister Susan Miller, brothers Brian Wight and Lewis Wight and daughters Mia Elinor Crowe (Michael) and Jennifer Fitzhugh. Phil lived in Tallahassee FL, Maui HI, Blairsville ,GA and Savannah GA. Also known by family, friends and his clients as ZEP man, has taken his Zepmobil and left for other universes to spread his amazing humor and knowledge. Ever the amusing salesman wearing his creative Zep shirts, he will no longer be giving away free samples to us. He loved anything with an engine or motor in it. He loved researching everything, and loved his family and friends. It is our hope he will be exploring his new home as as much as he explored his earth home. He was an avid traveler. Last count was 24 countries. He could grow orchids when others could not. They became his joy when he was home. Phil had never met a person he did not like. His wisdom and wit will be missed by many. Ten years tomorrow since Phil left us. I still don't know the reason why. My guess has always been something health related. Still missing you Mr. Phil.
I can't thank you enough for all of your help.

Today makes seven years that Phil has been gone. I still think about him often. I even miss some of those far away (spur of the moment) road trips to pick up the latest Zep-Mobile from some remote area in the neighboring states. More than once he helped out with some difficult circumstances when nobody else would. He really was a true friend.

We will all miss Phil up here in the cold north. He usually made a trip up here once a year and filled us all with the stories of his travels, his Zep adventures, and also the past history that he and Austin (Capt. Oz) shared. He was a real colourful character and we are very saddened at his loss. - Austin and Helen Eade

So sorry to learn of Phil's passing. He was the most helpful Zep Man sales rep ever. We always chuckled about his Zep van being so...cluttered...but he always had just the product we needed. One time he invited us to visit the Zep Atlanta facility. That was an interesting adventure. The facility was amazing but the ride in the Zep van was an experience. We rode amidst the...clutter...and had to stop every 50 miles or so for Phil to replenish the oil. God Speed Phil.

So sorry to hear about Phil. He was such an enlightening person, always smiling, always pleasant. He called on my company for years faithfully, even when times were bad and orders stopped coming. Wish there were more people like him.
