Dear Tony,

We were close friends for many, many years. I have always loved you and loved every piece of art that you created. One of my favorite memories was when we spent the day painting each other. One of my best trips was spending two weeks staying with you in Savannah. I have never moved any of your pieces that are all over my house. They are all my favorites.

Hi Tony,
You were and still a good friend. I remember you clearly and your apartment on Colorado St. I have several of you painting hanging in my living room and one I call a masterpiece it hangs over my bed. I always look at it and all the intricate things in the painting and admire how you painted them. the colors are magnificent. I remember visiting you in Savania, Ga. a number of years ago and the nice time we had together. I will NEVER forget you. You were a lovely kind person.

Tony,
I think of you often whenever I pass 112 N. Coronado Street where we both lived.
I moved to New Mexico party because I knew you were there in Corrales. Your art work continues to leave me awed around my house. I wish I bought more when I had the chance and you lived below me.
I still have your large painted rock with the whimsical face, although now the colors now faded a bit with time, I pass by it every day on m porch and think of you.
Wish I had visited you in Savanah after you moved.
I still keep our long correspondence via e-mail and the book on birds you sent me.
Always in my heart. My mother was so very fond of you too.
love,
Yolanda and Ruth

Hi. I met Tony when he lived by Tommys in Los Angeles. He was a real nice guy. I did some work at his house and was able to purchase a piece of his work for my then father in law. It was such an amazing piece all red and black such strong colors. Tony was a great guy always willing to help out anyone when needed. May you rest in piece and may your work live on. Take care bud

I met Tony many years ago in LA...we met at a show at a coffeehouse in Long Beach, CA he was doing. I was fortunate enough to purchase many pieces of his work, including "As Her Neighborhood Burns", depicting the LA Riots. This piece has hung on the wall in my living room in every home i have had since i purchased it. I am so happy to hear that Tony found love, Isidro. He was a lovely man and i think of him each time i look as the work i have that he did. I was so sorry to hear of his passing...i will never forget him.

I will miss my friend Tony. He was my art mentor, generous with his insight. When he moved from Los Angeles to New Mexico we became close. He came to our house for lunches (he was a vegetarian) and we shared art, stories, and humor. I was fortunate to be one of the few female models for his paintings. I am the woman in one of his "masterpieces", the one in the flowered religious mantle, with green wavy greenery coming out around my head. I am honored to be the inspiration for this painting. I love you, Tony. You are not gone, you are in my heart. I would also like to thank Isidro. We met in Tony's house in Corrales and he gave me a beautiful hoya plant. Isidro, you meant so much to Tony!

Dear Tony - It seems like so long ago, and just yesterday, that we spent time at your place in L.A. on Coronado. Surrounded by your beautiful artwork we laughed and played cards.
And your artwork hangs in our home, a forever reminder of your love of the world and your passion for recreating it in your most amazing paintings. How often you painted the saints, and now you are one of them. Thank you Tony for gracing the world with your gentle and kind spirit and leaving the world with the beauty that is you. May you rest in peace. Keep on painting, and we will look for you in the sunsets and sunrises and in every flower that unfolds. Until we meet again - peace dear friend. David and Jose (Pasadena, CA)

So many wonderful memories .My first love (9th grade. ) You sat at the last desk in my row in home room . Our relationship of three years was beautiful. Movies, flowers, prom and a promise ring, Forever in my heart. My keepsakes and letters, kept every one. Right down to the fake vampire teeth you stuck to your teeth with bubble gum. Tony and I met online in the late 1990's, emailing each other and chatting about our chihuahuas. Then I saw his art. He was an amazing man and I miss him and our conversations. We each had a little girl we named Rosie - his had four legs, mine has two. I was totally shocked to hear of Tony's passing and very hurt. I still can't believe he is gone. It's funny how close you can feel to a someone you've never met in person. I love Tony's spirit. I know Tony, Junior, Rosie, and my Juan Bobo are together now. One day we will all meet and it will be fantastic. Rest in Peace, Tony! I really hope you know how much you are loved by so many all over the world. You really did have an impact on us!

We shared so many laughs across the thousands of miles you in the USA and me in the UK, When I needed to talk with someone you'd listen then give me advice, when you needed advice I'd listen and help you out. The ocean was no barrier to our friendship and neither will your passing, you're friendship, compassion, and caring you showed to animals and Mother Nature are all locked away in my heart for eternity. Until we meet again big hugs from myself, David and of course plenty woofs and licks from Harvey x

Dear Tony, I was so saddened to learn of your sudden passing. Although we hadn't yet met in person, we were fb friends.I met you through my Daughter Cyndi Hidalgo-Knies, (also a self taught artist) she was heartbroken when she called me with the sad news of your passing, as you meant so much to her, as not only a great mentor, but especially as a Very Dear Friend. Tony, you have left a beautiful legacy of all you work, and beautiful memories of all who had the pleasure of knowing you. My Deepest condolences to Ysidro, your father and to all your loved ones. May they find Peace and Comfort as they re-live the Treasured Memories you have left with each and every one of them. May you Rest in Peace forever in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Love, Carol Hidalgo
