Marjorie Hendrix Obituary

Mrs. Marjorie Dill Hendrix - STATESBORO - Mrs. Marjorie Dill Hendrix, age 86, died Saturday January 30, 2016, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. The Waycross, Georgia native was the daughter of the late Mattie Hatfield Dill and James Jamie Dill. Marjorie attended Waycross High School where she played piano for Pernell Roberts (Adam on Bonanza and Trapper John, MD), while he sang. They remained friends and socialized together until his death. Marjorie attended Stetson University on a music scholarship in Deland, Florida. Marjorie made her home in Statesboro in 1959 and later worked as the manager of Wash World in College Plaza for 22 years. As well she was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother. She was thought of as a neighborhood mom by many boys on Nottingham Trail. Marjorie was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church and was active until Alzheimer's rendered her unable. She will be sorely missed by all those who had the pleasure to cross her path. Marjorie has now gone to meet her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Milton Dill. Marjorie leaves behind a loving husband of 60 years, Oscar Shug Hendrix, Jr.; two sons, Dean Hendrix of Midville and Michael Hendrix (Cynthia Groover) of Savannah; a granddaughter and her husband, Brittany and Matt Jackson of Flowery Branch; a sister-in-law, Reba Dill; second cousin, Stanton Meeks and wife Donna and their two children; also she leaves two cousins Sharon Hilton and Donna Orvin of Jacksonville, FL. The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00am in the chapel of the Statesboro First Baptist Church with Dr. John Waters officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Eastside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Saxon, Randy Childs, Trey Blackburn, Gary Blackburn, Billy Hendrix and Tommy Brannen. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459. Friends may sign the online register book at www.joineranderson.com.
