Jacquelyn Angela Stites
Passed away December 17, 2013 at the age of 79. She was born March 6,1934 in Alva, OK. She and her family moved often during her childhood. They finally settled in Pomona, CA where her parents bought their first home. Jacque happily resided at this residence until her death.
She attended Cal State Los Angeles from 1959 to 1962 where she earned her Bachelors of Science Degree. She continued her education from 1973 to 1977 at Cal State Fullerton where she received her Masters of Education with an emphasis on reading. She worked as an Elementary School Teacher for 36 years. Thirty three of those years in the Ontario Montclair School District. While there, she met many of her dearest friends. During this time she also travelled the world with friends and family on her summer breaks. Jacque is preceded in death by her father, John Stites. Her mother, Lillian Stites. Her brother, Marvin Stites. Her sister, Marylyn Stites. And her sister-in-law June Stites.
She is survived by her nephews; John Stites and wife Margie. Marvin Dale Stites and wife Barbara. Her nieces; Kathy Slavik and husband John. Melissa Chapman and husband Brian. Jacque Smithson and husband Howard. 11 great nephews and nieces and 12 great, great nephews and nieces. She was a generous and caring woman who had a deep faith in God. She was a founding member of St. Madeleine's Catholic Church in Pomona, CA where she still attended. Her funeral Mass will be held in this church on Friday December 27, 2013 at 9:30 am. The service will be followed by graveside burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA.
