Hilda Logan Obituary

LOGAN, Hilda Herring

Hilda Herring Logan, 92, died Saturday, August 17 in Pasadena, California.

She was born to the late Claude and Flossie Herring on August 30, 1920 in Clinton County, North Carolina. She was raised in Greenville, North Carolina, and graduated from East Carolina Teachers College (now known as East Carolina University).

She married the late Ben Harrison Logan, Jr., on March 27, 1948. Hilda and Ben had met before he was stationed overseas during World War II and married when he returned to North Carolina to attend Duke Law School. During their long and loving marriage, they lived in a number of locations in the Midwest before retiring to Jekyll Island, GA and Sun City West, AZ. After her husband's death in 2004, Hilda moved to Pasadena, CA.

Hilda was an active member in numerous churches, and a devoted wife and mother. She loved to travel, play golf and was a voracious reader. She was also well known for her prowess at bridge. But, by far, her greatest energy, love and devotion were directed toward her family and friends.

Hilda is survived by her two sons, Ben H. Logan III, of La Canada, CA., and Thomas H. Logan, of Breckenridge, CO., her daughter-in-law Lucia Logan, of La Canada, CA., and her two grandchildren, Ben H. Logan IV and Deidra A. Logan, of La Canada, CA.
