LEROY F. BUSH (ROY)
96, died Jan. 14, 2013 from a severe stroke at his home at Plymouth Village in Redlands, CA. Born 1916 in Olive, CA to Jesse L. Bush and Vera Bush (Bass). Roy was preceded in death by his infant son, Jan (2yrs), his loving wife of 65 years Everetta (Neel) Bush, mother Vera Bush, father Jesse Bush, grandmother Ida Bush and grandfather Taylor Bush (Santa Ana Canyon pioneers).
Roy is survived by his daughter, Linda Lawhon (Redlands), granddaughter, Kelly Lawhon Brunn (Scott) of Carlsbad, CA; great-grandson, Kylan Brunn, of Carlsbad, CA; son, Michael Bush (Barbara) of Widbey Island, WA; granddaughter, Sarah Shaneman (Bo) of Seattle, WA; grandson Jesse Bush (Laurena) from Utah; and great-granddaughter, Edin & Sophie Shaneman, Laura & Marianna Bush; niece, Sandy Manker (Ken); nephew, Mel Manker (Carol) and many cousins and family.
Roy graduated from Wilson High School in Long Beach. He was a great athlete, lettering in baseball, basketball & football. He met his future wife, Evie who attended Poly High in Long Beach. They both lived their childhood in Long Beach.
He also loved to golf; playing 3 days a week until the age of 85. Roy and Evie lived at the Lakes Country Club in Palm Desert for 25 years. Roy loved to trout fish and travel the world with his wife and Evie's sister, Loraine Manker. They were married 65 years until Evie's death in 2002. A man of many trades and talents describes Leroy Bush. He owned a large burglar and fire alarm company called Orco in Santa Ana for 20 years. After selling Orco to Honeywell, he bought a cattle ranch in Wells, Nevada. He raised Angus cattle and grew the alfalfa hay for the herd. Roy owned this ranch for 30 years living ½ the year at the ranch and the other ½ in Palm Desert. Roy was also a citrus grove owner (oranges) in Orange County & Visalia. He and his father were bee keepers for many years in the Olive area. Roy was great with his hands and built several homes in Garden Grove, including the one his children grew up in.
He was a member of the Cattleman's Assoc., many citrus grower assoc., and was a Mason.
Roy will be deeply missed by his family. He was our rock in his quiet humorous way. A private ceremony will be held at Hillside Memorial Park, Redlands, CA. Family under the care of Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel, Redlands, CA. You may send your condolences to www.emmersonbartlett.com

Mike and Linda, This is Gary Carter son of Jesse Carter. I am sorry on the passing of your father. He is someone I think about often by the way he treated us as children at the family get together's. Loved the 4th of July party's. We also talk about the 2 of you and did not know we lived so close together. I will try to make contact. May God Bless your Dad
