Chavez Jr., Augie  
Augie Chavez Jr. Augustine Chavez Jr., of San Bernardino, the son of Augie J. Chavez and Roxana Toscano Chavez, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016. He was born in Douglas, AZ in 1964 and his family moved to San Bernardino, CA in 1968. He graduated from San Bernardino High School. He married Diane Hudgins of San Bernardino, but they were later divorced. He worked for Albertson's for many years as a produce clerk. He is survived by his father; his son, Augustine E. Chavez; two sisters, Roxanne Hewitt (Chuck) from Ellsworth, WI; Lori Blanchfield from Charlotte, NC; plus numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, three nephews and one niece. His mother preceded him in death in 2006. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. No other services are scheduled at this time.

Field, Robert J. "Bob"  
February 23, 1937 - May 15, 2016 Bob was born in 1937 in Fort Riley, Kansas. Bob and his family resided most all of their life in the Inland Empire. He and his wife Ramona of 60 years spent several years of their retirement in Lake Havasu City AZ. Bob spent his entire career in the Construction Industry and as a general contractor. He is survived by his wife Jewell Ramona Field, son John C. Field, Daughter-In-Law Beverly Field, three granddaughters, Tera Dalgity, Tammy Bernardo and Kelly Babcock, six wonderful great granddaughters, Emma, Brooke, Ava, Jillian, Alyssa and Rebecca, older brother Albert Field and sister Catherine Hawkins. Service to be held on May 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM located at Weaver Mortuary & Crematory 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, CA 92233. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in memory of Bob.

GARRETSON, DAVID D.  
David D. Garretson 73, passed away May 15, 2016 after a battle with lung cancer. David was born June 2, 1942 in Redlands, CA to Clara and Howard Garretson. He was one of four children: his brother Pete and twin sisters, Naomi and Betty. He graduated from Redlands High School in 1960. David is survived by his wife Ellen, his son Brian (Deanna), his daughter Norah (James) and his three grandchildren Connor, Cameron and Meghan. His Vigil Service will be held at St. Frances X Cabrini Church on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 6pm with reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the David and Ellen Garretson Memorial Scholarship. Checks can be made payable to YCJUSD with memo indicating the David and Ellen Garretson Memorial Scholarship.

Glanville, Galilee L.  
Galilee L. Glanville Galilee Lucille Nelson Glanville passed away on May 9, 2016 from Congestive Heart Failure. Galilee, or "Gal" as she was affectionately known, was born April 10, 1930 in Little Falls, Minnesota to Levi and Manda Nelson. The youngest of seven children, Galilee grew up on a farm bordering the Mississippi River, near Fort Ripley, MN. She married James O Glanville (Jim), son of L.E. and Ivy Glanville, on September 10th, 1948 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Little Falls. In 1949, Jim, Gal and their infant son moved to California for Jim to attend the University of Redlands. The couple opened Glanville Business Services after his graduation. Galilee obtained a Vocational Education Credential from Southern Illinois University, and has enriched many students' lives by teaching medical assisting, anatomy, and medical terminology at United Health Careers, R.O.P, and San Bernardino Valley College. Galilee was a 66 year resident of Redlands where she was active in many civic groups including Santa Claus, Inc., Women of Faith, RAICC, and Sons of Norway. She was very active in her church, and was a charter member of the Redlands United Church of Christ. Galilee was a published poet, featured in Who's Who of American Teachers, and featured as an "Our Town Hero" for the Community of Redlands. She is survived by her five children: Gregory Glanville of Loma Linda, Constance Knox (Daniel Knox) of Fallbrook, Kathleen Barton (Robert Barton), Susan Chaplo (Michael Chaplo), and Michelle Glanville (Ronald Buchwald) all of Redlands, and her five grandchildren whom she adored: James, Lauren, and Emily Barton, and Travis and Haley Knox. Her celebration of life will be held at her beloved Redlands United Church of Christ at 168 Bellevue Ave, Redlands on May 22 at 1:00 P.M. Graveside service will be held Monday, May 23 at 1:00 PM at Hillside Memorial Cemetery in Redlands. Friends who wish may make a memorial contribution in Galilee's name to Santa Claus Inc (824 E 6th Street, San Bernardino, CA 92410), RUCC (168 Bellevue Ave, Redlands, CA 92373), or Sons of Norway, Soldalen Lodge ( www.sofn.com ).

Jefchak, Lois H.  
November 24, 1930 ~ May 05, 2016 Lois passed away peacefully at her home in Highland, CA, May 5, 2016. She was born Lois Hope Tucker in Arkansas, married John Lamb (deceased) in 1947 and raised three children in Rialto, CA. Married to Jerome Jefchak (deceased), she lived in Sequim, WA, 1989 to 2006, then moved to Highland, CA. Lois worked for the So. California Gas Co. for several years, then as a real estate agent in the San Bernardino area before retiring to Sequim. Lois is survived by her children Peggy (Henry), Alan (Debbie), and Allison (Stephen); grandchildren Jackie (Trent), Geoff, Steven (Heather), Brandon and Stephanie; great grandchildren Mackenzie, Peyton, Vivian and Steven Jr. Lois' ashes will be scattered at sea at a private celebration of life. She will be missed by family and friends.

December 02, 1923 ~ May 02, 2016 Pauline Banez Calimlim Maala, 92 years old, passed from this life, May 2, 2016. A graduate of the Univ. of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, taught high school before joining her husband, the late Mariano M Maala, to the U.S. in 1952. Retired 1985 after 20 years teaching at Warm Springs Elementary School, San Bernardino. Employed by the Cnty Assessors Ofc San Bernardino, 1950's to 60's. She was a co-founder-Filipino Assoc. of San Bernardino. She enjoyed singing with St. Anne's Church choir; later became a parishioner of St. Adelaide's. She is survived by her three children: Mario Maala (wife Pat) San Bdo, CA; Arlene Maala, Highland, CA; Celestine McDonald (hus.Robert) Holland, PA. Grandchildren: David Mackey; Daniel, Christopher, Andrew, Kianna, and Nalani McDonald; Jen Basham (hus.Dan), Paul Maala; Nieces and Nephews and their Families. Visitation: Wed. May 18th 5-7pm. Peckinpaugh Jr, Samuel J.  
April 20, 1940 ~ May 11, 2016 Samuel J. Peckinpaugh, Jr, entered into eternal rest on May 11, 2016. He is preceded in eternal rest by his children, Samuel Joseph (Joey), Christine Lynn and Donald Lee Peckinpaugh. He is survived by his wife of 55 years and the love of his life, Judy L. Peckinpaugh, his son, Larry A. Peckinpaugh (Wendy), daughter Connie S. Johnson (Michael), daughter-in-law Cynthia Simpson, grandchildren Michael, Patrick, Ryan, Katherine, Katrina, Cynthia and DeAnna and great-grandchildren Lawrence, Alice, Wyatt and Nicholas and his sister Betty Jean Hancock. Samuel will forever be remembered for his love of Dodger baseball and coaching his son's teams throughout their youth, his sharp mind and firm hand in working at the Civilian Personnel Office at Norton Air Force Base, and the never-ending dedication to his wife and family. Viewing will be held at Green Acres Mortuary on May 18 at 9:30 a.m. with a funeral mass at St. John XIII in Rialto. A graveside military service will follow at Green Acres Cemetery in Bloomington.

Reed, Robert A.  
April 13, 1927 ~ May 06, 2016 Robert A. Reed (Bob) went to be with his wife and savior Friday, May 6, 2016. He was a devoted husband and beloved father. He will be missed by countless friends and loved ones, but especially by his two surviving children, Steven Reed and Paula Ross as well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded by his wife of 62 years, Shirley M. Reed and his daughter Linda Harder. Bob served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired from the City of Los Angeles as a Heavy Equipment Operator. In retirement he and his wife enjoyed their grandchildren's sporting events and made many lasting memories traveling, RV-ing, fishing and square dancing. A man of few words and many works, with a heart as big as the universe. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Visitation: Saturday May 21st from 5pm - 7pm. Rey, Gilbert  
Gilbert E. Rey III "Lil Man" Born 01-09-1990, went to be with our Lord and Savior on 05-09-2016. Preceded in death by his brother Ryan Rey; survived by his parents Christy Luna (mother), Gilbert and Lisa Rey; children Leira, Joseph, and, Angel; Grandmother Lori Rey; siblings: Alexis and Angelina Agudo, Erika Vargas, Michael, Manuel and Daniel Rey, Gabriel Perez; nephew Kameron Vargas Parks; Nino Joe and Nina Annie Vargas; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who all love and miss him. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 24 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at Preciado Funeral Home. A public service will be held on Wednesday, May 25th at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Special thanks to all who came out to support the family during this time.

Sawyer, Don  
Don Sawyer Donald Edward Sawyer passed away in his home surrounded by family on Monday May 9, 2016. Don was born in San Bernardino California on May 28, 1929. He attended and graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1947. After graduation Don served his country as a member of the Naval Reserve. In 1949 Don married Betty Clemens. Don and Betty attended St. Paul's Methodist Church where they met in the church youth group. Upon the untimely death of his father Don became, at the age of 23, the owner of Sawyer Cabinet Company where he worked for over 50 years. After college his son Kim became his partner in the cabinet business and worked side by side with Don for many years. Don was an avid sailor, hiker, snow skier, water skier and tennis player all his life. He was still playing tennis at age 85 and snow skiing into his early 80s. Don spent many weekends with family and friends doing the things he loved whether it was in Parker AZ water skiing or Big Bear Lake sailing and snow skiing. In addition, to his love of sports, Don will be remembered for his willingness to help and his caring and loving demeanor. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be sorely missed by many. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Pam, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren all of whom loved him dearly. A memorial service honoring Don will be held on May 27, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Highland Congregational Church. The church is located at 3606 East Atlantic Avenue, Highland, California. There will be a reception following the service. The reception will be held at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be sent to the American Cancer Society.
