BONNIE JEAN VAUGHAN
December 26, 1955 - November 3, 2012
Bonnie Jean Vaughan lost her 2-year battle with lung cancer on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the age of 56. She passed peacefully at home in North Hollywood, CA surrounded by her family.
Born on December 26, 1955 in Glendale, CA to Lee Calvert and Elaine Margaret Heighe, Bonnie attended Thomas Alva Edison Elementary School, Theodore Roosevelt Junior High and Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale, where she was active in the school choir and performed in several musicals. Bonnie married Richard Vaughan on June 27, 1983, and their daughter Brittany Elizabeth Vaughan was born July 13, 1985. Brittany was Bonnie's pride and joy. They made their home in North Hollywood, CA. Both Bonnie and Richard were involved in Girl Scouts with Brittany and long after Brittany was too old to be a girl scout. The annual scout outings at Camp Lakota were a highlight of their year - cooking and providing guidance to all the girl scouts in attendance. For years Bonnie had wanted to work at Disney. When the opportunity presented itself in 1999, she jumped at it. Bonnie worked in the corporate legal department and described it as her dream job. She adored the people she worked with and they adored her. Bonnie was a generous, passionate and wonderful spirit. She touched the lives of many. Bonnie took care of everyone around her never giving a thought as to whether it might be inconvenient for her. She would give you her last dollar without considering how she would take care of herself. Bonnie's many Disney friends and colleagues assisted her and her family during her illness and particularly in the last weeks and days prior to her passing. Her niece Carol Covell cared for her in her last days.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Richard Vaughan; her daughter, Brittany Vaughan; her sisters, Diane Phillips of Pasadena, CA and Deborah Junes of Spokane, WA; and her brother, John Heighe, also of Spokane, WA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. At Bonnie's request, there will be no memorial service. Memorial donations may be made to the
or the Boys and Girls Club of Burbank & Greater East Valley.
