FREDERIK ALEXANDER "FRITS" ROSENVELDT
Frits passed away at home on January 10, 2013 after a short hospital stay. He was born February 15, 1934 in Markelo, The Netherlands. He spent his early life in Surabaya and Jakarta Indonesia before and during World War Two. After the war he returned to the Netherlands before immigrating to his beloved, United States in 1958, eventually, settling in Ontario in 1959. He is predeceased by his parents and brother Gert 'Han' Rosenveldt of the Netherlands. Frits was married for 51 years and is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (nee Cazeneuve). Additionally, he is survived by daughter Michele Rosenveldt, son Jean-Paul 'J-P' (Theresa) Rosenveldt and grandsons Aric and Johannes 'Hans', all of Ontario. Frits is also survived by his sister, Marie (Ronald) Van Damme of Upland, Ca. as well as nieces and nephews both here in the United States and in The Netherlands.
Frits will be remembered for his passion and involvement with youth and adult soccer in the area. He began teaching his love of the game to young men at the Cucamonga Boys Club in "North Town", this beginning, eventually grew into AYSO Region 32 covering Alta Loma, Ontario, Chino, Upland and Claremont of which he was commissioner for a number of years. Frits was the first soccer coach at Chaffey College as well as numerous club and recreational teams in the area. His love of soccer extended into owning the Soccer Locker in Montclair, Ca. Frits also enjoyed watching golf on television. However, playing golf was frustratingly attempted only once. Frits felt that if he could play golf with his feet, he could do much better.
Frits had a keen sense of humor, loving a good joke or story. A love for Dixieland jazz and swing music. He was a frequent contributor to the "Letters to the Editor" section of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, Daily Report and Progress Bulletin. Frits also enjoyed preparing, sharing and eating his much loved, Indonesian food, making "Rijsttafel" for friends and family.
There will be no funeral services, per Frits' wishes and In lieu of flowers please consider the needs of his family. A celebration of Frits' life is scheduled for February 16th, 2013, please contact the family for additional details.
When stepping onto any soccer field, anywhere in the world, think of Frits, he would love that.
