Dr. Gerald Duane Sharp

Dr. Gerald Duane Sharp
Passed away at his home in Rancho Cucamonga on September 30, 2012. Duane was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on July 28, 1933. He married his soul mate in 1954 and served in the United States Air force from 1955-1957.
Duane earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees at the University of Idaho and obtained his Ph.D. in Animal Science at Washington State University in 1969. Dr. Sharp was a faculty member at Fort Hays Kansas State University in the Department of Biological Science and Agriculture from 1969-1974.
Dr. Sharp was a professor of Animal Science at California State Polytechnic University where he served as Department Chairman and coached the livestock judging team. He was a co-founder of the Cal Poly Pomona Chapter of Farmhouse. He taught at Cal Poly from 1974 until he retired in 1998.
Dr. Duane Sharp was pre-deceased by his wife of 57 years, Dr. Roberta Sharp on March 26, 2012. Duane is survived by his daughter, Keri Lynn Mackie of Lake Arrowhead, Ca., his son, Martin Keith Sharp of Cody, Wyoming. Duane is survived by his sister, Marilyn Lawrence, of Bellevue, Washington. He is survived by his son-in-law , Scott Mackie of Lake Arrowhead and his daughter in law, Mary Ritz in Cody, Wyoming. Duane is survived by his step-son, Tavish Mackie of Highland, Ca.
Viewing will be held on Monday October 8, 2012 at 10 AM at Etiwanda Gardens Chapel with services at 10:30 AM .
