RICO, Helen

Helen Rico, 91, died on March 7, 2013 in San Rafael, CA.
Beloved mother, aunt, grandaunt and friend to many. Helen was the younger daughter of Thomas J. Evans and Vivian Fauré. Her sister, Virginia, played and taught the piano, while she focused on singing and Spanish dancing.

A 1939 graduate of Alhambra High School, Helen also
attended Sawyer secretarial school and was a secretary throughout World War II. She met her husband, Tony Rico, postwar at a dance at the Pasadena Armory, and they married in 1948, and had two children. Helen worked for the Temple City Unified School District for over 20 years, and especially enjoyed talking with the teenagers.

In 2010 Helen moved to San Rafael, CA to be near family. She died after a short illness, choosing to join the life-filled God in whom she trusted when life on earth had lost all quality. She is pre-deceased by her sister Virginia, her husband, Tony, and her son, Randy. She is survived by her daughter Renée, her niece, Marie Carr, Marie's husband, Dennis, and her grandnieces, Allison Carr and Rachel Carr, as well as many family friends.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Temple City, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's name to: doctorswithoutborders.org.
