Mary Ann Hartline

Mary Ann Hartline
January 5, 1935 – December 29, 2013
Mary Ann Hartline (78) of Fontana passed away peacefully at home Dec 29 after a protracted battle with breast cancer. Born in Tiltonsville, OH in 1935 to Leonce and Cecelia Favede, she moved to Fontana in 1957 to join relatives who had relocated from the Ohio Valley. The move allowed her to be closer to her husband, Charles (Hank) Hartline, stationed at the San Diego naval base.
In 1955 she earned her nursing degree from Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing.
Later that same year she married Hank, whom she met & fell in love with during high school. They celebrated their 58th anniversary on Dec 4. After Hank's discharge, the couple remained in Fontana where they raised 3 sons – Mark, Keith & Eric.
Upon arrival in Fontana, Mary Ann began a long career at Kaiser Permanente where she managed several clinical departments, ultimately concentrating on family medicine in both Fontana & Ontario. At Kaiser, she cultivated permanent & enduring friendships. After retiring in 1993, she helped grow & expand the retirees association & became involved with the local chapter of the Am. .
In 1976 while maintaining careers & raising families, she & her dear friend & business partner, Shirley Raney, opened Olde Stuff, a shop specializing in antiques & collectibles, which grew & thrived for several years. When the store closed, the business continued in antique malls & craft fairs. Again, a familiar pattern repeated itself - customers converted to permanent friends.
She had an incredibly wide range of hobbies & interests in which she would immerse herself passionately & completely.
She is survived by her husband Hank & her three sons & their spouses: Mark & Wendy of San Diego, Keith of Riverside, Eric & Matt of NYC. She leaves behind beloved grandchildren: Nick, Alli, Dani & Sandy. She is also survived by her brother & sister-in-law, Leon & Betty Favede of St Clairsville, OH.
Strangers who started as roommates, acquaintances, colleagues, fellow volunteers, parents of her sons' friends & customers transformed into life-long friends whom she cherished & loved absolutely. These dear friends are invited to join her family at Dickey Mortuary on Tues, Jan 7 from 6:30–8:30pm for visitation & Wed, Jan 8 at 10am for funeral services. Donations may be made to the Am. .
