May 25, 1922 - January 21, 2013
Albert Simonetti was born on May 25, 1922 and passed away peacefully on January 24, 2013 with his family by his side. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Angelina Simonetti; brothers, Ernest and Frank Simonetti, Jr., his wife, Jeanette Simonetti and son, Robert Simonetti. He was born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he attended Grand Junction High School and Ross Business College. Albert worked on the Denver Rio Grande Railroad until he went into the Army. In 1949 he moved to Long Beach, CA and began working as a supervisor for Pacific Valves until he retired in 1985. Upon his retirement he became an active member of Pacific Valves Pioneer Club. Albert is survived by his loving children, Joanne (Charles) Shelton, Frank Simonetti, Nancy (Bob) Hoyt and his four grandchildren, Matthew and Steven Hoyt, Lisa and Carly Shelton. Albert was very involved at St. Barnabas Catholic Church where he and his wife were very active for over 50 years. Albert served as an usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time he traveled around the world with his wife, worked on automobiles and trucks for fun, remodeled his houses and taught himself how to play the accordian, organ and piano, along with collecting trains. He enjoyed spending time with his children and most of all, being called "Papa" by his adoring grandchildren. Albert was an amazing talented man, as there was no job that was too small or too hard for him to do or build. He was always ready and willing to help others whenever he could. He will be greatly missed by the many that knew and loved him. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 3-6pm, followed by the Rosary from 6-7pm at Luyben Family Dilday Mottell Mortuary, 5161 Arbor Road, Long Beach. Funeral mass will be on Thursday, January 31 at 10:30 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to Jeanette Simonetti Education Foundation, which may be mailed to daughter, Nancy. Please sign the guest book at luybenfamilyd-m.com.
