Christine B. "Chris" Rogers Obituary
Christine B. Rogers

1956 - 2014

Christine "Chris" Rogers passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at her home in Encinitas, Ca. Caring wife and mother, she is missed dearly by those surviving her. Married 34 years to high school sweetheart, Brian J. Rogers, they met in the hometown they grew up in, Claremont, CA, fell in love, got married and raised their three children, Kelly Anne Rogers, Kevin William Rogers and Heather Michelle Rogers, while living in Alta Loma, Ca. Chris loved being involved in her kids' activities; volunteering as an aid at their schools, as an active booster supporting the various teams, clubs, scouts and other activities each pursued.

Chris was born April 2, 1956 in Chester, PA to (the late) Stanley and Janet (Damai) Bazela , the second child of four, she is survived by siblings; brother, Steve Bazela, Claremont, Ca and sisters, Kathy Tener, Lodi, Ca and Sandy Hewitt, Claremont, CA. She attended Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School, subsequently graduated from Claremont High School with the class of 1974, and later with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA. Upon receiving her degree, she was employed at the Claremont Colleges as the Food Service Director for Scripps College and later at the Frank Dining Hall of Pomona College. She retired from work to become a full time mother after the birth of her youngest child, Heather.

Her love for cooking and homemaking was the thing she relished most in life, and it was a role she took to naturally. Hosting family functions: birthdays, holidays, team gatherings, and just sitting around enjoying home, she was always a gracious host and reveled in seeing and being surrounded by her family and their friends. Chris was a very special person that way; always selfless in her giving.

Christine lost her battle with cancer this month, but handled her life threatening disease and treatments the past three plus years with self-effacing grace, poise and dignity.

A private service is planned for Thursday, June 26, 2014 11:00 AM at Bellevue Memorial Park, Ontario, CA. Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life in her honor at the private residence of Patrick & Sheryl Rogers, 9378 La Gloria, Alta Loma, CA, Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
