1948 - 2012
No one loved horse racing, barbecuing, or a good party more than Danny Boucher, who died July 27, 2012 at the age of 63. Cause of death was complications from cancer. Danny was born September 12, 1948 in Lynwood, CA. He was a delivery truck driver for more than 37 years for 7-Up. Danny grew up in Downey and graduated from Downey High School in 1966. Danny is survived by his daughter, Autumn Boucher; grandson, Kyle Boucher; former wife, KT Simone and husband, John Simone and Laker Dude, the family dog. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Debbie Boucher; nieces and nephews, Eric, Bruce and Isaac Boucher, Margo and Mike Higgins; great nieces and nephews, Roxanne, Vicky, Tyler, Jackson, and Amanda. He was predeceased by his parents, Alphonse and Margaret Boucher, his brother, Jeff and his sister, Gail. Danny was a veteran in the Vietnam war and proud of his service in the Navy. He had a lust for life and his optimism was a bright spot to everyone who met him. Friends and family remember Danny's continual gourmet barbecues, where the beer flowed freely and no one was left out. Horse racing was his life-long hobby along with water skiing, sailing, baseball, volleyball, poker, reading and crossword puzzles. Danny visited many countries and states, but Mexico was his favorite. Danny went to the Yucatan in 1976 where he was able to climb the Mayan Ruins, ate full-on lobster dinnners for $6! in Cancun, then Dan hopped to the other island in a twin engine plane to Cozumel, where he rented a scooter and cruised the jungle for days and was also fortunate enough to deep sea-sea dive there. Danny also went to Baja when the road first opened which extended all the way to the tip, Cabo San Lucas. In Baja, Danny parasailed and scuba dived among many other activities. He was quite the athlete. Towards the end of Danny's life he was everyone's favorite at the Prospector Restaurant and finally had his dream come true by handicapping and winning a hefty "Pick Six" he shared with his friends at the Prospector. Danny will be greatly missed. A remembrance of Danny's life will be held August 18 at 11 a.m. at the Prospector Steakhouse & Cocktail Lounge, 2400 E. Seventh Street, Long Beach.
