Dorothy Brooks Milhon
Dorothy (Dottie) Brooks Milhon passed away in her home on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. She was 76 years old. Dottie was born in Upland, CA on February 27, 1937 and her childhood home was in Corona, CA. She graduated from Corona High School in 1955 and went on to
La Verne College, graduating with a degree in Home Economics in 1959. After graduating, she taught elementary school for five years.
While attending La Verne College, Dottie met James (Jim) Milhon and the two were married on October 8, 1958. Jim and Dottie together raised three children. Dottie's main purpose in life was to be a wife, a mother, and tend to her own home. Anyone who entered the Milhon house felt welcomed, loved and had a profound sense of belonging. She cultivated that kind of loving environment and welcomed in anyone who came. For this (and much more), many people felt the Milhon home was their second home, and she their second mother.
Dottie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jim of La Verne, a sister Jan Wainscott of Riverside, a son Jeff of Hanford, CA, a son Jon of Glendora, CA, and a daughter Jana Milhon-Martin of Claremont, CA. Dottie was preceded in death by her twin brother Doug Brooks of Hesperia, CA.
A memorial service for Dottie will be held on Saturday March 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Pomona First Baptist Church (601 N. Garey Ave. Pomona)
In lieu of flowers the family would ask that donations be made to the ministry of Priscilla Constentine in Pakistan, TEAM, P.O. Box 969, Wheaton, IL, 60197-0969, Attn: Priscilla Constentine.
