GURROLA, Robert "Bobby" Joseph

Longtime West Covina resident Robert "Bobby" Joseph Gurrola died on September 25 after a long and courageous fight with prostate cancer, surrounded by his family.
Born on August 10, 1948 in Los Angeles to Bernardino and Consuelo Gurrola, he is remembered for a spirit-lifting smile,
telling corny jokes, and inspiring family, friends and employees.
He met the love of his life, Dolores Perez, when they were both 16, at a carnival in 1964, and were married on Aug. 16, 1969.
Gurrola was drafted to the Army during Vietnam, and was stationed in its Arizona finance department.
After a short career at Bank of America, he moved to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he spent 25 years.
Gurrola formed and played guitar in bands throughout his life, and enjoyed jogging and racquetball, as well as rooted for the USC Trojans and the San Diego Chargers.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores, their children, Kathy (Matt Torrez) of Montclair, Lisa (Louis Martinez II) of West Covina and Cyndi Gurrola of West Covina, grandchildren Robert and Breanna Hernandez, Louis III and Leila Martinez and brother, Steve Gurrola.
