DeSimone, Helen K.
Helen was born in 1920 in Tamingfu, North China to missionary parents. She attended China Inland Mission boarding school in Cheefoo, finishing her last two years of high school in Pyengyang, North Korea. At age 17, she returned to the U.S. and during WWII joined the U.S. Navy WAVES. She later graduated from Stanford with a major in Far East studies. In 1948, she married her husband Ralph; they remained together until his death in 2006. Helen was a wonderful wife and mother, very giving and thoughtful to those around her. She volunteered many years for the Salvation Army, and over 20 years for Bible Study Fellowship. She had a strong faith in God, remaining active in her church teaching Sunday school until just several months prior to her passing on April 4. She is greatly loved and will be missed by her children Pete, Ralph, Anne, Susie; five grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends. Memorial service to be held at First Baptist Church Pasadena, April 27, 11:00am. Donations may be made to Salvation Army or Bible Study Fellowship.
