Ida Frances Lowry
October 28, 1915 - September 26, 2013
Ida Frances was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Frank and Ida Metz, the youngest of four sisters. She married Francis M. Lowry on May 22, 1937 and they had two daughters-Pat Francis and Marian Banning. The Lowry family moved to Long Beach in 1946 and she immediately became a vital and active volunteer in her church and community serving on the boards of the Catholic Welfare Bureau, her daughter's schools, United Way, the Junior League of Long Beach, the Long Beach Water Commission, Metropolitan Water Department, Red Cross, St. Mary hospital and many, many other community organizations. She was predeceased by her husband and her sisters. She is survived by her daughters, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and many, many friends. She will be missed. The family would like to thank all of her caregivers at Bixby Towers and Sunrise of Playa Vista over the last nine years. A Memorial Mass will be said on Thursday, October 3 at 1:00 p.m. at all Souls Cemetery, 4400 Cherry Avenue, Long Beach.
