Born in Salem Ohio, Joan Seachrist grew up in Altadena and Pasadena, California, graduating from Muir High School, Pasadena City College, L.A. State College and attending
. She married Gene Stucky in June 1956 and the couple moved to the Midwest where they started a family. In 1970, they left Hutchinson, Kansas, moving to San Bernardino to join Campus Crusade for Christ, where Joan served 40 years on staff with Gene. Her last earthly residence was Highland, where she died peacefully at home after several years of illness.
Her passions included classical music, oil painting, traveling, teaching, encouraging people and sharing Jesus, the Hope of Eternal Life. She applied her teacher's education and musical training admirably in the Classroom of the Home and the Concert Hall of Life!
Joan willingly lived with Gene on a minimal missionary income most of her adult life for the sake of the Gospel. She baked and cooked tirelessly for her family and for those in need. She showed hospitality to many missionaries and friends in her home. She prayerfully included cartoon Gospel tracts in Halloween goodie bags every year and evangelized and taught character principles to neighbor children in Good News Clubs.
She leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law Jean and Wally Bublitz; Gene, her husband of 57 years; sons Lyman, Warren and Darrell; daughter-in-law Janet and grandsons Greg and Neil-and many dear friends who look forward to seeing her in Heaven. Her husband and sons rise and call her blessed (Proverbs 31).
Memorial service: Immanuel Baptist Church, 28355 E. Baseline, Highland CA Wednesday August 28 at 11am. Cards and condolences may be sent to Gene and the family at 4040 Piedmont Drive #242, Highland CA 92346.
