Nancy Joanne Pearson
Joanne Hartley Pearson passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2014 in Long Beach. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Philip and Mrs. Nancy Warnock Hartley, and sister Hallie Denhart. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 44 years, Dr. Seibert (Bo) Pearson, son Brian (Gina and granddaughter Hannah Pearson), daughter Amy Pearson, siblings Cathy (Bob) Steuber, Patty (Joel) Hogan, Dr. Jack (Katie) Hartley, brother-in-law Tom Denhart, a great tribe of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces, and many loving friends. Joanne's community involvement included the Junior League of Long Beach, Cedar House Child Abuse Treatment Center, the Long Beach Cancer League, and the Steel Magnolias. She was a prodigious reader of novels, and she and her husband enjoyed playing bridge, golf trips to Mexico, all of the Western states, Colorado, and especially in Hawaii when visiting her son and his family. She often referred to herself as "The world's oldest fitting model," and continued working until the first of last year. She will be remembered for her irrepressible spirit, her sense of humor, her indefatigable caring for people, and as a lover of animals. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest donations to the Cancer Center Collaboration and/or the P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village and Education Center, both of which are in Long Beach. please sign the guestbook at www.presstelegram.com/obits.
