Paul R. Hontz

Paul R. Hontz of Upland, California entered into the presence of Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.
He was born August 16, 1923 to Arthur and Clella Hontz in Sheatown, PA.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Jane, who he married 65 years ago on March 22, 1947. Sister: Becky and Jerry Tomassacci of Drums PA. Children: Paul S. and Marilyn Hontz of Holland, MI; David and Shirley Hontz of Upland, CA; and Mark and Kathy Hontz of Torrance, CA. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Lee in 1965. He had 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Paul was a graduate of Houghton College and did his Masters work at the University of Southern California and Bucknell University. He was a junior high teacher in Covina, CA until his retirement in 1985.
He served as a U.S. Marine during World War II in the Pacific theatre. Following the war and college, he moved to Southern California where he lived and raised his family. He was a committed follower of Christ, an active churchman, a Sunday School teacher and a witness for Jesus. He read the Bible and lived its message and because of his confidence in Christ, he was sure of heaven.
A celebration of Paul's life and faith will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in the Fireside Room of Hillside Community Church at 5354 Haven Ave., Alta Loma, CA 91737.
