SAMUEL D. "SAMMY" SPELLMAN Age 61, passed away in his sleep at his home in Devore, CA, on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Born in Middleton, Ohio to Mabel and Henry Thomas Spellman. Sam lived the majority of his life in Fontana, CA. A 1967 graduate of Sequoia HS, Sam served 2 years in the US Army before working 15 years as a Scarfer for Kaiser Steel. He then continued to work in the field of construction until his retirement. A jack of all trades, Sam could always be found tinkering around his garage, turning trash into treasures. He had a green thumb, loved to sketch and draw, played drums, and was an avid dart player. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. He had a zest for life as well as laughter that was contagious to everyone around him. Sam is survived by his son, Samuel Spellman Jr. of Memphis, TN; a daughter, Ashley Mack; his companion, Bonnie Hansen of Devore, CA; two brothers, George (Shari) Spellman of Devore, CA and Henry "Sonny" (Sandy) Spellman of Kansas City, MO; a granddaughter, Samantha Spellman; his niece, Tina (Donald) Spellman of Devore, CA; his nephews, Ronald (Jennifer) Spellman of Crestline, CA, Jimmy Jr. (Bethany) Spellman of San Bdno., CA, Michael Spellman Jr. and Gregory (Araceti) Spellman; and several great nephews and nieces, Terra, Wyatt, Destiny, Mason and Makena. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Henry Thomas Spellman; and two brothers, Jimmy and Michael Spellman. Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Dickey Mortuary, Fontana, on Monday, July 18, at 11 A.M. followed by a burial at Riverside National Cemetery.
