Zwaantina "Swannie" teVelde
Entered into the Lord's presence on January 16, 2013. Born July 26, 1913 in Platte, SD, to Dutch immigrants John and Grace Deurwaarder, her family moved to Grand Haven, MI in 1924. After her marriage in 1936 she moved to Artesia and in 1969 to Chino, CA.
Swannie had an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and a deep desire that all, but especially her family, know and love Him. She was passionate about Christian education and missions, and enjoyed gardening, traveling and having fun. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who sent birthday and anniversary cards to all family members until the age of 98.
Swannie joins her husband, Harm, and their sons Harry, Ralph and John in eternal rest. She leaves behind an immediate family of 116 living members: 6 children-Margaret Houtsma, Shirley (Jack) DeGroot, Grace (Dave) Kreulen, Betty (Herb) Reinders, Marvin (Sandy), and Harriet (Ralph) Hill; daughters-in-law, Bonnie teVelde and Sheryll teVelde; 29 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and brother, Marinus Deurwaarder.
Her children arise and call her blessed.
Visitation is Jan 21 at 3-7pm, Draper Mortuary. Graveside Service is Jan 22 at 9am, Bellevue Cemetery, followed by Memorial Service at 11am, CrossPoint Church, Chino. The family requests memorial contributions go to Ontario Christian Schools Tuition Assistance Fund.
