Betty Lee Lawrence, 80, resident of Fontana, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014, following a short illness. She was born on December 17, 1933 to Dee and Juanita Kelley. She graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario, and received her BA and Master Degrees from the University of Southern California in Riverside. Later in life she obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Citrus Belt Law School. She was a retired employee from both Los Angeles and San Bernardino County Superior Courts where she worked as a Court Administrator. Betty enjoyed a 58-year marriage to Bob Lawrence. They lived in the Inland Empire (Upland, Fontana, and Redlands) and the High Desert (Silver Lakes and Apple Valley) for many years, and returned to Fontana 5 years ago.

Survivors include her sons and their spouses: Bobby and Boom Lawrence of Austin,Texas; Mickey and Connie Lawrence of Rancho Cucamonga; and Rod and Trish Lawrence of Apple Valley. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews, her best friend Sue Martin, and her beloved dog, Teddy. She was predeceased by her husband, Bob Lawrence, their son, Terry Lawrence, her sister, Shirley Scull, and grandchildren Christopher and Lisa Lawrence.

Betty enjoyed life, traveling, being with friends, and hosting and attending family functions, and had fun occasionally playing Keno slot machines at the casinos, winning quite often with her lucky numbers. She was loved and will be missed so much by her family and close friends, but who now take comfort in knowing that she is in a better place.

The family is grateful to Astoria Elder Care in Fontana and Cambridge Hospice in Upland for the dedicated and exceptional care given to Betty.

Visitation is Tuesday, July 29, from 11 am to 12:30 pm at the Draper Mortuary, 811 N. Mountain Av, Ontario, CA 91762. Immediately following will be graveside services at 1 pm and burial at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 West G St., Ontario, CA 91762. A reception for family and friends will be held afterward at the home of Mickey and Connie Lawrence, 9724 Hidden Farm Rd, Rancho Cucamonga. Please dress casually in appropriate attire for the hot weather, as Betty would want everyone to be comfortable.
