Obituary Condolences

GERALD W. BEARD "JERRY" passed away peacefully at home in Fontana, surrounded by his family on January 18, 2011, at the age of 80. Jerry was born in Cleveland, OH, on September 22, 1930, to William and Monna Pearl Beard. He graduated from the Georgia Military Academy in 1949, Pasadena City College in 1960, and Cal State Los Angeles in 1963. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was proud of his service to his country. He held numerous positions in manufacturing in the home pool business, leaving the industry in 1973 as Vice President of Manufacturing for Doughboy Pools. In 1973 Jerry founded Gerald W. Beard Realty, Inc. in Rialto. It is the oldest real estate company in Rialto. He fully retired in 2005 as Chairman. He was a past member of the Rialto Host Lions Club and enjoyed competition shooting, fishing, hunting, bowling and gardening. Jerry is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Cherrell; five children, Bradley of Rialto, Scott G. (Nancy) of Beaumont, Scott C. (Bonnie) of San Bernardino, Kimberly of Rialto, and Michael of Success, AR; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and his buddies, Dave Nelson and Gotch. A Memorial Service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at Green Acres Memorial Park, 11715 Cedar Avenue in Bloomington, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's name may be made to the VA Medical Center, Voluntary Services, 11201 Benton Street, Loma Linda, CA 92357.
