Allen Thomas LeFever Obituary
Allen Thomas LeFever
Feb. 18, 1928-Dec. 19, 2012

Allen Thomas LeFever, age 84, passed away at his home in Carson City, Nevada on December 19, 2012 of natural causes.

Al was so inversed, and very talented, in so many aspects of his life through his local communities, from near and far. Al was a favorite friend, father, grandpa, and neighbor to all who knew him. Al met his lovely bride, Louise, when they were mere just children themselves, possibly crib mates, and were born just 1 day apart. His bride of 54 years preceded him in death in 2005. Al enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944, and was one of two men who placed the first atomic bomb to detonate under water at Bikini Atall in 1946. Upon Al's successful discharge from the United States Navy in 1953, he was then hired as a deputy with the Los Angles County Sheriff's Department, and served as their department's Safety Educational Office, until 1961 and retired due to medical reasons.

That little set back did not detour Al from moving on to his next adventures in his life. He was elected to the City Council for the City of La Puente, California in 1962, and served graciously for 10 years. In 1968 Al was appointed as the Mayor of the City of La Puente, California. In that same year, he was also named "Man of the Year" for the City of La Puente. In 1972 he resigned from the City of La Puente Council to take a government position with the United States Air Force, establishing a civil security force on Wake Island, which was the main base for South East Asian Operations during the Vietnam War. When his service was complete there, Al returned to La Puente as a City Council Member and served a second term as Mayor in 1976.

After retirement, in 1978, Al and Louise built their dream home in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and Al went to work at Harrah's Lake Tahoe, as an entertainment security supervisor, and Louise worked at Sahara Tahoe in the security administration offices. Due to health reasons, they moved to the beautiful Carson Valley in 2003 to be closer to their children.

Allen is preceded in death by his wife, Louise and grandson, Ryan Wynn. Allen is survived by his children, Theresa LeFever-Felter, Velinda LeFever-Wynn (Rob), Michael LeFever (Karen), Susette Hunt (Ron), and Guy LeFever (Karen). In Addition, Al had 9 grand children, 6 great grand children and 2 great-great grand children.

A Memorial service was held on December 27, 2012, at FitzHenry's Funeral Home, 3945 Fairview Dr. Carson City, Nevada, on December 27, 2012 at 12:30pm. Internment to immediately followed at Lone Mountain Cemetery, Memorial Veteran's Section. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions to: Veteran's Community Living, Reno, Nevada, or Carson Valley United Methodist Church, Gardnerville, Nevada.
