Julius John Calgaro
90, known as "Julio" passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at home in Yucaipa, California. He was born January 1, 1923 in Hurley, Wisconsin to Silvio and Adalaide Calgaro.
Julio graduated from Hurley High School in 1941 before joining the army. In World War II he was overseas for 32 months. After his discharge in 1947, he came to San Bernardino. In 1950 he married Delores Smith at St. Bernadine's Catholic Church.
He had four brothers: Fred, Serafino, Romeo, and William, and is survived by three sisters: Theresa Foryan, Julia Piasecki, and Corrine Bensoni.
Julio and Delores were blessed with 63 years of marriage and two sons: Douglas John and Dennis Paul; two daughters-in-law: Kathleen and Karen; four grandchildren: Amy, Jennifer, Jeremy, and David; one granddaughter- in-law: Janice, plus her daughter Jordan; and one great- grandson: McKenzie; plus many nieces and nephews.
Julio was employed by Barbara Ann and Millbrook Bakeries for a total of 32 years. He retired in 1982 and devoted his time as a book collector and researcher and as a garage sale and swap meet enthusiast.
Julio will be greatly missed and heaven will be shining brighter from his heart-warming smile.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 21 at Riverside National Cemetery on Van Buren in Riverside.
