Hollister Sr., Joseph T. - Port Carbon  
Joseph T. Hollister Sr., 70, of Orwigsburg, passed away Wednesday surrounded by his loving family at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown. Born in Pottsville, Dec. 24, 1944, he was a son of the late Bernard William and Florence Scholl Hollister. Joe graduated from Marian High School, Class of 1962. After high school, he served in the Navy as a submarine technician. He worked as a tool maker for Parrish Steel, Reading, and then as a marketing manager for the Brethren Mutual Insurance Co., Hagerstown, Md. Joe was a member and a former captain of the Citizens Fire Company, Tamaqua. He served on the board for the Brookside Court, Orwigsburg, and was a former Blue Mountain School Board member, a member of the Orwigsburg Lions Club and a former Republican Committee member. Joe loved to go fishing and hunting, especially with his grandsons. He always had a smile on his face, a friendly hello for everyone he met and made everyone feel special. Joe loved spending time telling stories of the Citizens Fire Company and of hunting to his grandsons, whom he loved deeply. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, William Hollister. Joe is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna M. Storch Hollister, Orwigsburg; a daughter, Sharyn M. Yackenchick and her husband, Charles, Friedensburg; a son, Joseph T. Hollister Jr. and his fiancee, Jodi Schwartz, Orwigsburg; five grandsons and best friends, Curtis, Cody, Zach, Matt and Stevie Dunn; two sisters, Nancy Carroll, New Ringgold, and Marie Gilbert, Delaware; a sister-in-law, Annette Hollister, Harrisburg; his cat, Lucky; nieces and nephews. A religious service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon, with the Rev. Ronald J. Minner officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Honicker, Barbara A. - Lake Wynonah  
Barbara A. Honicker, 74, of Lake Wynonah, Auburn, passed away Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown, Lehigh County. Barbara was born in Pottsville, Nov. 20, 1940, a daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha Neiewender Thompson. Barbara graduated from Cressona High School in 1958. She was the widow of William T. Honicker Sr. She was a member of Bethany Christian Fellowship Church Cressona. She worked as a waitress and candymaker. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Harold and Kenneth Thompson. Barbara is survived by a sister, Janice Miller, Nevada; two daughters, Tammy, wife of Val Cobos, Plano, Texas; Michelle Hasenauer, Lake Wynonah; two sons, Harold Skip Heffner, Florida, Ronald, husband of Lora Heffner, Lake Wynonah. She was the former wife of Thomas Heffner, Florida. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Thomas and Michael Gerloff, Harold Heffner and Brianna and Katie Hasenauer; a great-grandson, Michael; nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ebling Stabingas Funeral Home, 26 Chestnut St., Cressona. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. The Rev. Dr. Christopher Fisher will officiate. Interment services will be at Cressona Cemetery, Cressona. Hoy Sr., Lewis R. - Pine Grove  
Lewis R. Hoy Sr., 83, of Pine Grove, passed away Saturday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg. Lewis was born in Schuylkill Haven, Dec. 12, 1931, a son of the late Edward and Anna Yeich Hoy. He was the widower of Janet Tobin Hoy. He was of the Protestant faith. He worked at the former Alcoa as a truck driver and he retired as an instructor for the Air National Guard the 201 Red Horse Unit at Fort Indiantown Gap. He served 28 years in both the Army and Air Force. He retired as a tech sergeant, heavy equipment operator and instructor, receiving many ribbons and oak leak clusters. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion, both of Pine Grove. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Tobin Hoy, on April 29, 1999, and a brother, Charles Hoy, in 1985. Lewis is survived by three sons, Lewis R. Hoy Jr., Auburn, and Ronald L. Hoyand Richard A. Hoy, both of Pine Grove; four grandchildren, Tracy, wife of Scott Lang, Auburn, Michael Hoy, Deer Lake, Craig Hoy, Pine Grove, and Shawn Hoy, Camp Hill; a great-grandson, Austin Boyer, Auburn; a niece; nephews. A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuyl-kill Haven. Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Hurst, Pastor Raymond S. - Schuylkill Haven  
Pastor Raymond S. Hurst, 80, of Rock Road, Schuylkill Haven, entered Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday at home surrounded by his family. Born on May 11, 1934, in Clay Township, Ephrata, he was a son of the late Jacob M. and Lydia Sensenig Hurst. He was a member of the Palo Alto Mennonite Church. Raymond worked as a building contractor and was one of the founding members of Newhurst Bus Company. One of his greatest joys was being a pastor and being able to provide ministry to several churches in the area. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruth W. Hurst, on Dec. 30, 2012; three brothers, Clarence, John and Paul Hurst; and a sister, Arlene High. Surviving are two sons, Jay and his wife, Jean Hurst, Schuylkill Haven, and Dale and his wife, Gale Hurst, Pine Grove; two daughters, Karen and her husband, Paul Riegel, Schuylkill Haven, and Kathy Ferguson, Pine Grove; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Noah Hurst, Lititz; two sisters, Eva Groff, Lititz, and Mabel Weaver, East Earl; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with his son, Dale Hurst, officiating. There will be a viewing from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday and 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. All services will be held at the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, 347 Sweet Arrow Lake Road, Pine Grove. Interment will follow in Roedersville Mennonite Cemetery, Pine Grove. Jarzenbovicz, Joseph - Shamokin  
Joseph Jarzenbovicz, 65, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday at his residence. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Aug. 25, 1949, he was a son of the late Joseph and Theresa Mrackowski Jarzenbovicz. A graduate of Wilkes-Barre High School, he worked for Wegman's Distribution Center until retirement. Joseph was a Navy veteran. Surviving are his wife, Marianne Russell Jarzenbovicz; two sisters, Marie, wife of Jim Wellons, North Carolina, and Lois, wife of Ray Feist, Wilkes-Barre; four nephews, Jennifer, Ray, Ashley and Julie. Johnson, Mary H. - Frackville  
Mary H. Drasdis Johnson, 87, of Frackville, formerly of Fountain Springs, passed away Saturday at Lehigh Valley Medical Center-Cedar Crest, Allentown, with her family by her side. Born in Gilberton, Sept. 4, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Helen Poploskie Drasdis. She was a graduate of Gilberton High School and Empire Beauty School, Pottsville. She was a member of the Catholic churches of Ashland and Gordon and was a member of the former Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church, Gordon. Mary was a homemaker and was devoted to her family. She enjoyed all the family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Edward F. Johnson, in 2013; and son-in-law, Kenneth Sausser, in 2012. Surviving are daughters, Linda Sausser, Frackville, and Kathleen Baker and her husband, Mark, Harrisburg; a son, Edward P. Johnson and his wife, Christine, Orwigsburg; four grandchildren; Kenneth Sausser and his wife, Ciara, Kathryn Sausser and Stephen and Andrew Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Maladia; a sister, Dolores Rulis, Harrisburg; nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Ashland, with the Rev. Robert Finlan as celebrant. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Albert L. Gricoski Funeral Home, Frackville. Christopher Jones, 42, of 101 W. Patterson St., Saint Clair, died Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown. Born in Pottsville, Oct. 2, 1972, he was a son of Donald Jones, Mill Creek, and Georgene Miller Jones, Saint Clair. He was formerly employed by Hetran Co., Deer Lake. Chris was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Saint Clair. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, Adrian Miller and his companion, Cathy Christ, Pottsville, KC Jones and his wife, Angela, Pottsville, and Paul Jones, Saint Clair; a sister, Michele Lutsky and her husband, Jason, Palo Alto; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 N. Second St., Saint Clair. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi R.C. Kershaw, JoAnn (Saner) - Shenandoah  
JoAnn (Saner) Kershaw, Scottsdale, Ariz., passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at the age of 69. Born in Shenandoah, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Evelyn (Matakonis) Saner. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Robert; daughter, Pamela, wife of Andrew Thomas; grandchildren, Nathan and Erin; brother, Joseph and his wife, Barbara; sister, LuAnn; nieces, Karla Saner-Amigh and Stephanie Browder and their families; aunts, cousins and extended family members. Since her retirement from the California school system, JoAnn was a world traveler, an intelligent and strong woman full of life, laughter and kindness who truly lived each day to the fullest. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, as she brought great joy and happiness to everyone she encountered. A memorial service and celebration of life for JoAnn and her mother, Evelyn T. (Matakonis) Saner, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian will officiate. Kurilla, Olga - Shenandoah  
Olga Kurilla, LPN, 83, of Shenandoah Senior Living Community and formerly of Shenandoah Heights, died Saturday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street. Born in Shenandoah, Oct. 3, 1931, she was a daughter of the late John and Susan Shutovich Kurilla. Olga worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Kurilla, in 2002. She is survived by her caregiver, Laura Mummery, Shenandoah Heights. Services will take place at 11:30 a.m. Thursday from Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc., 40 N. Jardin St., Shenandoah, with Monsignor My-ron Grabowsky officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
