Antoinette Scicchitano Bach

Antoinette "Toni" "Schicky" Scicchitano Bach, 70, of 549 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, died Monday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her days were filled surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Born Oct. 18, 1943, in Kulpmont, she was a daughter of the late Dominic and Teresa Varano Scicchitano. She resided in Kulpmont her entire life.

Antoinette was educated at St. Mary Elementary School and graduated from Mount Carmel Catholic High School.

She retired after 15 years of service with the Department of Labor and Industry for the workers compensation division. Prior to that, she managed Kulpmont pharmacy.

On June 27, 1964, she married John Bach in St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Kulpmont. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1997.

She was an avid supporter of Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church where she was actively involved in bingo, fundraising, church picnics, as well as serving on the financial committee. She was also a member of many other organizations that supported the community.

Nana loved her family unconditionally. Her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews were her life. She cherished spending time with her loved ones and especially enjoyed cooking and baking. Antoinette was a strong supporter of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, where her three grandchildren attend. She volunteered for many years for the local youth booster organizations and the Shepherd's Pantry.

She was a loving, kind and caring woman; she always thought of others before herself. Antoinette was a respected woman and an ideal role model. She will be sadly missed by all.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony, Bruno and James; and a baby sister, Marian.

Survivors include her loving daughters, Mary Teresa Komara, wife of Patrick Komara, Kulpmont, Kathleen Bach, Kulpmont, and Michelle Calabrese, wife of David Calabrese, Waverly, N.Y. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, Nicole and Mary Frances Komara, Bella Bach, Saleena and John Andrew Calabrese. She was the youngest of nine children. Antoinette is also survived by two brothers, Dominic and Joseph Scicchitano, both of Kulpmont; sisters, Catherine and brother-in-law, John Maciejewski, Kulpmont, and Marian Pickering, Coal Township.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont, with the Rev. Andrew Stahmer, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kulpmont. Viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today with a Christian wake service at 8 p.m. and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, C.J. Lucas, supervisor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School for the creation of a scholarship awarded to an active member of the Holy Angels parish attending Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School.
