Betty M. Tiazkun

Betty M. Tiazkun, 86, formerly of Lykens, passed away Saturday morning at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Lykens, Oct. 11, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Mary Kendrick Sigel.

Betty was a graduate of the former Lykens High School.

She worked as a secretary at Porter Tower High School and retired as a secretary from Alfa Laval Inc., Lykens. Betty also was the former owner of Personal Touch Gift Shop, Tower City.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, William and Thomas Sigel; and a sister, Ellen Gurnick.

Surviving are her husband, George Tiazkun, Millersburg; a daughter, Patricia Thompson (Gerald), Tower City; two stepchildren, Patti Welsh (Joe), Wiconisco, and Michael Tiazkun (Connie), Lykens; two grandchildren, Brian and Andrea; five stepgrandchildren, Kathy, Rick, Abby, Mike and Beth; three great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Fletcher and Archie; three step-great-grandchildren; nephews and a niece.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City, with the Rev. Linda Bonfiglio officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco.
