Dale Shoup, 78, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away Friday, June 21st 2013.
Dale was born in Ringtown on June 17, 1935, a son of the late Myrtle (Zimmerman) and Norman Shoup.
Dale spent his childhood in the Ringtown area, earning a rank of an Eagle Scout.
After graduating high school, he attended the Penn State College of Liberal Arts, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1959. He continued his education at Columbia University, then began his career as a medical equipment technician for the University of Michigan
until his retirement in 1995. He continued his association with the university after retirement, which included many years of service with the university athletic department.
Dale loved the fine arts and was fluent in several languages. He was a supporter of the University of Michigan Musical Society, holding season tickets and went many years without missing a performance. Dale was a member of the Yankee Air Force, volunteering his time with the Yankee Air Museum in Ypsilanti as well as also being a member of the Penn State Alumni Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother William Shoup and a sister Eileen Mikita.
Dale is survived by a nephew, David Shoup of Scottsdale, Arizona, and by two nieces, Kelly Laudeman and Pam Mikita, both of Ringtown.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, 412 West Main Street, Ringtown on Friday, July 26th at 7 PM.
