Donald G. Briggs, 57, of 503 W. Washington St., Shenandoah, died Saturday evening at his residence.
Born in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late John and Alberta Brobst Briggs.
He had been employed as a mechanic/truck driver for Reading Anthracite for 35 years. He was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Columbia Fire Company and the 500 club, all of Shenandoah, and the Six-County Firemen's Association.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Lou Briggs, in 1950, and Diane M. Briggs Simms, in 2009.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, the former Charlene Fadule, two sons, Travis Briggs, Shenandoah, and Eric Briggs, Shenandoah Heights; a brother, John and his wife, Ruth Briggs, Douglasville; two sisters, Judy Taylor and Cheryl Powis, both of Frackville; two grandchildren, Travis Briggs Jr. and McKenzie Briggs; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews, and aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday in First United Methodist Church, Shenandoah. The Rev. Brunilda Martinez, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church.
