Elaine M. Shandor, 70, of 112 S. Nichols St., Saint Clair, died Sunday at Rest Haven nursing home, Schuylkill Haven.
Born in Pottsville, July 3, 1942, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Leshok Shandor.
She graduated in 1960 from Saint Clair High School, received her bachelor's degree from Penn State University
and her master's degree from New York University
She was a retired teacher, having worked most of her life for the New York City School District, New York.
Elaine was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church, Saint Clair, St. Michael's Choir, St. Michael's Sisterhood, New York City Retired Teacher Association and a life member of Penn State Alumni Association.
Surviving are two brothers, John A. Shandor and his wife, Stephanie, and Paul S. Shandor and his wife, Carol, both of Saint Clair; four nieces, Camille Habacker and her husband, James, New York City, Ivana Bradley, Mar Lin, Leslie Salem and her husband, James, Saint Clair, and Lauren Shandor and her fiance, Jon Gibas, Saint Clair; two great-nieces, Veronica and Delaney; five great-nephews, Mitchell, Lincoln, Leo, Luke and Brody. Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 N. Second St., Saint Clair, PA 17970. The Rev. Jeff Zias will officiate. Further services will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Orthodox Church, Saint Clair. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Panahida will be 7 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Michael's Orthodox Church Building Fund, 106 N. Morris St., Saint Clair, PA 17970. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Saint Clair.
